Brief history of your character (100-200 words): Ardeth Bay is the leader of the twelve tribes of the Medjai: the direct descendants of the Medjai of Ancient Egypt, who acted as the Pharoahs' sacred bodyguards and secret police. Three thousand years ago, Pharoah Seti I was murdered by his traitorous mistress and her secret lover, the Pharoah's high priest. The mistress killed herself, believing the high priest capable of resurrecting her - and so he would have - but the Medjai caught up to the priest before the ritual could be completed, capturing him and subjecting him to the Hom Dai, which has been described as 'the worst of all Egyptian curses'. Buried alive with flesh-eating scarabs, the curse granted him eternal life, so that he might suffer his torture for all time, but as such made him a dangerous creature with supernatural powers should he be resurrected into our world. The Medjai were subsequently tasked for all time to watch over the creature's resting place (Hamunaptra, known as 'the City of the Dead') and prevent that from happening.

In 1926, a group of treasure hunters and amateur egyptologists came across the mummified priest and, ignoring Ardeth's warnings to leave Hamunaptra or die, accidentally woke him up. Ardeth then allied himself with adventurer Rick O'Connell and his group in order to stop the creature from destroying the world.

In 1933, the remains of the creature were dug up by a group of mercenaries led by none other than the reincarnation of Seti's mistress and Ardeth again worked with the O'Connells to stop it. The creature and its allies were determined to release the fearsome Army of Anubis, in order to use its power to subjugate the entire planet. Ardeth led all twelve tribes of the Medjai warriors into battle against the Army of Anubis, fighting against impossible odds, to win the O'Connells enough time to kill the army's commander and the creature, thus saving the world for a second time.

Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100-300 words): Ardeth is a highly skilled warrior, adept with either a gun or a sword, possessing a profound belief in his mission and a deep faith in God.

What is your character's sexual orientation? (Bear in mind that any sexual orientation is welcome, but must be supported by or unknown/ambiguous in canon - see Rules and FAQ): Straight, though not specifically referenced in canon at any point.

ENTRANCE POST

Ardeth Bay watched the balloon that carried his friends away from the windswept sandunes of Ahm Shere until it disappeared over the horizon. Once satisfied that the group of adventurers was safely on its way home, the warrior turned his horse around and started back towards the Medjai camp.

After riding for a while, it occured to him that he had not come this far from where his people were making camp to see off the O'Connell family. The fact that he might have veered off course was odd enough for him; he knew how to navigate the desert like someone knows their own house. He did not simply get lost there. He was about to turn around, retrace his steps, when a run-down old building came into view. He frowned. What was a building like that doing in the middle of the desert, all alone? They were deep in the wilderness. The building was wrong. It didn't belong there.

No longer considering simply turning around despite his weariness after the intense battle against the Army of Anubis, Ardeth rode forward, towards the building. It looked like a ruin, but the ruin of a modern, western building. That, too, was wrong. Buildings like that were not built in the Egyptian desert long enough ago to be ruined in such a fashion.

He dismounted, leaving his horse well back from the ominous structure, and proceeded towards it on foot, his hand hovering near his sword.

He examined the entrance when he reached it, but could see nothing that appeared threatening, except for the vaguest notion tugging at his senses on the most instinctual level: danger, danger, danger. He noted the sensation, but pushed it aside, even as he pushed open the heavy door.

He'd barely stepped over the threshold when he stopped short. The interior of the derelict building was palatial. Literally, it was the way he imagined the inside of Pharoah's palace would look.

He was startled briefly when a man he had somehow failed to notice addressed him from behind a broad wooden and stone counter.

"Please come inside, sir, you're expected."

Ardeth looked at the man oddly, taking a cautious step forward. "Expected?" he echoed, as though he may, perhaps, have misheard the fellow.

"Indeed, sir. And you must be weary after the battle. Come inside and rest."

"The battle?" Ardeth confirmed skeptically, still moving slowly and carefully towards the man.

"With the Army of Anubis, sir. It must have been tiring. A hot meal and a soft bed are awaiting you, sir."

"Where am I?" Ardeth asked suspiciously, unsure of how this man - a man speaking English - could possibly know so much about a battle that had only just happened and, officially, had never happened at all.

"This is the Hotel California, sir." The man set a key on the counter. "Enjoy your stay," he added before disappearing through a doorway behind the counter.

"No, I'm not staying..." Ardeth began, but the man was gone.
